Overview

Taiko Udon, located at 9118 Bolsa Ave in Westminster, California, is a spot worth noticing for anyone who enjoys comforting noodle dishes with a Vietnamese touch. Set in the heart of Little Saigon, this restaurant brings together the appeal of freshly prepared udon and the familiar warmth of local Asian flavors, creating a menu that feels both specialized and approachable. One of the things that makes Taiko Udon stand out is its focus on house-made noodles, which give each bowl a fresher texture and a more satisfying bite than the standard version found in many casual noodle shops. The menu is concise rather than overwhelming, centered on a handful of udon selections along with a few additional noodle dishes, allowing the kitchen to keep its attention on quality and consistency. Popular choices include the seafood udon, the pork udon, and the chicken curry udon, each offering its own character, whether you are in the mood for something rich, savory, or lightly spiced. Another interesting detail is that Taiko Udon shares its space and ownership with Le Croissant Dore Bakery, which adds a unique touch to the overall experience and gives the place a neighborhood feel that reflects the area around it. The food has earned praise for being flavorful and memorable, the kind of meal that can pleasantly surprise first-time visitors and leave a strong impression after just one visit. Taiko Udon feels like a place where simple dishes are done with care, where the noodles are the star, and where the combination of Vietnamese culinary influence and udon-focused comfort food gives diners something a little different from the usual restaurant options in Westminster.

Even though the restaurant is in the heart of Little Saigon, its food and settings feel different from other typical Vietnamese restaurants. It serves French-like food and its most popular dish is beef tongue. The service was kind of slow but the food was pretty good. The inside is clean but not that many seats. The parking can be tough during hot hours such as lunch or dinner. This is not a handicap friendly facility with no access for wheelchair.

My wife and I stopped by this place for lunch today. The waiter was friendly and the service was quick. I ordered banh canh tom cua (seafood udon) and my wife ordered the chicken curry with baguette. My udon was good with crab meat, 2 large shrimps and 2 meatballs. The broth was quite delicious. My wife's curry was creamy and very well flavored. The chicken could be a bit more tender. The baguette was nice and hot. Overall, it's a good place for a quick bite and reasonably priced.

If you love udon and Vietnamese cuisine, then Taiko Udon is your next stop. Located in Little Saigon, it shares the same space and ownership with Le Croissant Dore Bakery which you can also order from. Their main menu includes 5 udon dishes and 3 other noodle dishes. Taiko freshly makes their own noodles. The seafood (tom cua), pork (heo), and chicken curry (cari) udon are favorites.
